The Atlantic Hockey Championships last month in Charlottetown, PEI. Castle was proud to co-sponsor the event along with member location’s Spring Valley Building Centre, O’Leary Building Centre and TJ’s Windows, Door & More. Congratulations to all the teams, staff and spectators who participated.
Congratulations to Castle Member Jack Crombie of Hudson Hardware of Hudson, QC. Jack was recently inducted into the Canadian and Quebec Curling Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame honours the achievements of individuals who have significantly and positively contributed towards the advancement of the sport of curling.
Congratulations to Team Rae from Toronto and Collingwood who took home 1st place at the Queen of the Castle Bonspiel Curling Championship. The tourney took place at Prince Edward Curling club in Picton Ontario and was proudly sponsored by Castle location C. F. Evans Lumber, also in Picton.
Congratulations to Emma Robin, daughter of Castle member Keven Robin of Brisson Castle Building Centre in Cochrane, Ontario. Emma and her Under 18 curling team, sponsored by Brisson Castle are on their way to the Northern Ontario Provincial Championships in Fort Francis. We wish the team the best of luck in the tournament! Castle member location Alf Curtis Home Improvements in Peterborough is doing their part to support the local community. Recently, they were the Platinum Sponsor of the 10th Annual Pink in the Rink where the Peterborough Petes partner up with the Canadian Cancer Association to raise funds and awareness.

Castle was excited to co-sponsor the 45th Annual Bonnechere Cup in Eganville, ON once again, along with neighboring Castle locations C.A. Rieche & Sons, Country Depot, Wm. Keetch and Hooks Building Centre. It was an exciting weekend of snowmobile racing action and events.
Congratulations to the team at Rideau Lakes Building Centre on winning the 2018 Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the 1000 Islands/Gananoque Chamber of Commerce. Castle staff took part in sorting and packaging close to 5000lbs of food donations at the local Mississauga Food Bank. This total was the equivalent of almost 6000 meals for local residents in need. The Castle staff also made a donation of $1200 which was collected over the past year through weekly staff contributions.
Congratulations to The Castle Championship Team of the St. John’s Media League Co-ed who took home the Softball Division D Champions for the third straight year. The team was sponsored by local Castle location, ABC Siding and Windows in St. John’s Newfoundland
Castle is pleased to announce the official winner of the 2018 Battle of the Tough Trucks. The contest was one of the largest in Castle’s history and received a record number of entries! The lucky winner of the $40,000 prize was Glenn Tobin of Blackfalds, Alberta! After picking up an online entry ballot at Wolf Creek Building Supplies in Lacombe, Alberta, Glenn entered online and his name was chosen.
Moffett’s Hardware in Sussex, New Brunswick was a proud sponsor of the local community event called Wading In: Exploring Trout Creek Day The event celebrates Trout Creek and highlights the many local organizations who care about healthy and thriving waterways. Just a few weeks earlier, Moffett's Hardware hit the primetime news in Atlantic Canada where they were featured in a news story highlighting almost a century of community history.
On August 2nd Burnstown Hardware hosted its Grand Opening. Over 500 customers and visited the store throughout the day to help celebrate the store opening which included over 15 vendors showcasing their products, including demonstrations from many vendors partners.
Over 150 guests representing 80 Castle Vendor Partners from across Canada gathered for the annual On August 27th, 2018, Castle staff and many of their Vendor Partners Castle Vendor Appreciation Golf Tournament. Hosted at the picturesque Club at North Halton in Ontario, the pristine greens and rolling hills made for a beautiful backdrop to another day filled with fun on the perfectly groomed private golf course.
For over a decade, people travel from all over southwestern Ontario to the town of Florence for the Annual Florence Truck & Tractor Pull, organized by The Optimist Club of Bothwell.

This summer was beaming with charity initiatives including the Hudson Hardware sponsored hole in one contest at the Cunningham’s golf tournament at the Whitlock Golf & Country Club. On June 18th, participants enjoyed an amazing day of golf at the annual tournament that raises money for a variety of different charities every year.
The 1st Annual Eganville Great Canadian Cheese Box Race cheese box race took place on the August 4th. The fun, inventive “boat” race which features upcycled old cheese boxes celebrate the Bonnechere River and the heritage of the Eganville creamery.
Topmar Building Supplies Ltd. - on the north side of the St. John River in Fredericton NB, reached out to many in their community who had been impacted by the devastating New Brunswick flood of 2018.
On May 10th, Castle Building Centres Group Ltd. hosted an open house in Mississauga, Ontario, to celebrate our 55th Anniversary.
Once again, Castle, was proud to sponsor the 44th Bonnechere Cup last month along with 4 local member locations.
Every Christmas Roger Gainer of Docks & Decks in Sudbury, ON lends a hand in his community by Collecting, Sorting and Delivering food items to needy families through the Sudbury Food Bank. He and his wife Terri also created a Local Annual fundraiser hosted in their own home called the Ugly Sweater – TV Bingo Contest night to raise money and food for the local charity.
Minden residents Ed and Grace Schuurmans recently won $5,000 towards a home renovation project in the Great Canadian Fall Renovation Contest operated by Castle Building Centres Group Ltd.
Castle head office staff volunteer each year for the Home For Dinner Program at the Toronto Ronald McDonald House. The staff bonds together to plan a menu and prepare a comforting dinner for the appreciative families staying at the house. Ronald McDonald House is a "home-away-from-home" for out-of-town families with a child requiring treatment at a nearby hospital.
Over the summer, Castle held the second annual Weekend Warrior Contest where Castle locations from across Canada offered their customers the chance to win a Weekend Warrior prize valued at $25,000.
